Object Unfold Milestone Project Process

    I wanted to play around with stacked objects because I thought it would be a little trickier and I would need to problem solve a little bit to not have any pieces overlap.


Here's the object I made:

    Continuing this project, I begun modeling some ideas with paper trying to figure out what would work best/ what would be possible to make on the waterject cutter. I settled on this design:







    I then modeled this in Rhino and laser cut it out of cardstock. Throughout this modeling process I struggled trying to make it able to fold out in rhino because of all of the curves that rhinoo can't really model. I also struggled trying to figure out how to make a bottom, but ultimately decided on leaving it without a bottom because it isnt possible for it to unfold.

Castle Model

      For this project I originally wanted to model a castle after Minas Tirith from LOTR, but while modeling it I realized that it wasnt coming out how I neccesarily wanted and decided that it would look a little boring. OBJECT Attachment: Online Discussion, Rhino Progress

    Since I've made cold connection/ attatchment designs before, I decided to go a slightly different route for this project. There will still be a connecting point (actually multiple) but the main focus of this design will be on the actual "thing" itself. I want to make a sort of  pointer for when I am wheel throwing in ceramics and want to make multiple identical pots. This tool helps show me where the lip of the pot needs to come up to and thus helps me make semi-identical forms.  Something like this:      After drawing a few concepts I found a better design that would be both easier to model and have less failure points which I think ultimately will be better. No - Support Structure Printing Process

     For my design I originally wanted to go with the very complicated one (image for reference), but after attempting to print it a few times I realized that I would need more support for the base so that the print wouldn't fail.      I decided that I was going to go with the spire, because it also looked good and had all the criteria needed for this project. It has a very satisfying shape, and since it's symmetrical it's pleasing to look at. It's also self - supporting and can print without failure. I did size it down so that it could fit within the size constraints.     I used bambu slicer to slice my model because I have a Bambu lab P1P, but it didn't change much because I used the same trick with spiral vase where I turned it on then off to get all the right settings.
