Object Unfold Milestone Project Process

Image
I wanted to play around with stacked objects because I thought it would be a little trickier and I would need to problem solve a little bit to not have any pieces overlap. Here's the object I made: Here is the object unfolded:     Continuing this project, I begun modeling some ideas with paper trying to figure out what would work best/ what would be possible to make on the waterject cutter. I settled on this design:      I then modeled this in Rhino and laser cut it out of cardstock.  Throughout this modeling process I struggled trying to make it able to fold out in rhino because of all of the curves that rhinoo can't really model. I also struggled trying to figure out how to make a bottom, but ultimately decided on leaving it without a bottom because it isnt possible for it to unfold. This is the final laser cut file: The laser cut pieces:

Final Blog Post: Milestone Projects

This final blog post is a summary of all the projects we made this semester in OBDF 210 Castle Project: Monogram Logo + Tesselation Design: 3D Printed Object Attatchment:

OBJECT Attachment: Online Discussion, Rhino Progress

Since I've made cold connection/ attatchment designs before, I decided to go a slightly different route for this project. There will still be a connecting point (actually multiple) but the main focus of this design will be on the actual "thing" itself. I want to make a sort of  pointer for when I am wheel throwing in ceramics and want to make multiple identical pots. This tool helps show me where the lip of the pot needs to come up to and thus helps me make semi-identical forms.  Something like this:      After drawing a few concepts I found a better design that would be both easier to model and have less failure points which I think ultimately will be better. Now all I have to do is figure out a better way of attatching this to the wheel because my original idea isnt going to work The first concept: The second concept mor fleshed out:     After Modeling in rhino a little bit I managed to make basically the entirety of the project excludi...

Monogram Logo and Surface Design Tessellation: Layout and Present

Image
Here is my logo design:     The tessallation design (black - white and colour):     Two Variations of the logo on my tesselation design:     I decided to do a more messy/ busy tessalation to contrast the very simplistic and minimalist logo design. I also chose to do simple and elagant colours because it felt like it suited my logo. I went through a few different variations, at first attempting to use triatic colors but that didn't work. I am happy with how my logo and tessalation turned out.

Initials Logo: Select, Refine, Construct

I dont have much to say this week, I played around with the different layers and hatching. Here are the process images and the final:      I like how they turned out, I'm still not sure which version I prefer though so feedback would be appreciated.

Initials Logo: Concept Generation

These are my first couple ideas. I decided to start How Bryan told us to, with lowercase and uppercase and different combos until we found some good ones. This worked pretty well to help me realize what I dont really like and what I want in my design. I realized pretty quick that I don't really like the lowercase in the logos, I think it doesn't work really well with the shape of the letters. The preliminary designs:      I then got distracted with a new autograph (possibly) which kind of helped me clear my mind and I managed to just pump out a bunch more designs until I couldnt anymore. After all of these I couldn't think up any more designs so I decided to call it there. The brain dump: The final choices:      Overall I think I chose some that I really like, one of the designs is actually my current artist mark and I like it quite a lot, though I try not to be too biased. Next class i'm curious to see what other people think and...

Castle Model

Image
For this project I originally wanted to model a castle after Minas Tirith from LOTR, but while modeling it I realized that it wasnt coming out how I neccesarily wanted and decided that it would look a little boring. I decided to pivot and make a more detailed castle, and modeled one after The academy of Raya Lucaria from Elden Ring.      This is the inspiration image: This is my model: Some close up shots:     My main focus for this project was to make it as detailed as possible and try to make natural rock formations for the base. I think I managed to complete both goals, and am very happy with how it turned out.      One of my main struggles with the project was getting the rocks to look realistic, but after a bunch of research and struggle I managed to semi - figure it out. Next time I make something natural like this I do want to try to have less meshes becasue right now the file is massive and it gets a little laggy when ...
