No - Support Sculptures

I was really excited to start this project, because I love 3-D printers and printing in general, as I have my own printer at home. I also got a little bit of an advantage with this, as I have about a year of 3-D printing knowledge that definitely helped me out during the project.      This was the very first model I made for this project, albeit it is a bit simple but I think it shows off the main components of this project pretty well. I wanted to use some of the new commands we learned as much as possible throughout this project, and I think I have learned a lot about rhino.      I actually accidentally made these prong forms while playing around with the loft function. I attempted to loft a bunch of circles into points to make some cones, and I made a prong. I then found out that it would result in a slightly different prong form and direction depending on where I attempt to loft the arrangement. Once I found this out, I also realized...

Arabian Castle

For this castle project, I knew from the start that I really wanted to make a castle with onion domes. Originally I wanted to make something along the lines of the Russian onion domes, but I decided to got with a more Arabian/Egyptian design because I preferred the color palette and background more.      I started this project by doing some research and then designing the very basic ideas on paper, then I made the pillars in Rhino. I wanted to try to give the pillars a bit of character, so I played around with the doors as to differentiate them. The open door took an absolute insanely long time to figure out because the rotation point on objects is in the middle, but I needed to rotate the door by it side, Nevertheless, I managed to make it look pretty realistic and am very happy with how the doors came out.      For the inside of the castle, I made a more simple design because I wanted the pillar and the walls to stand out ...

My Summer in a Voxel Project

Image
This summer I went to the Metallica concert in Edmonton, went camping, and also sat at home and gamed with friends.        From the start I knew that I wanted to represent the Metallica concert, so I started out by making the Metallica "M".      I then went on to make it into the landscape for a campsite, thus represnting my camping expirience.      While working on adding colour, I realized that it looked alot like minecraft, so I decided to use colours similar to the game as to represent this other big part of my summer.
